Speculative or not, the FL5 is only being assembled in Japan. So if you reduce the number of places assembling the car when compared to the previous model, the numbers are likely going to be less. I have seen some FL5's go for $5k markup, but as others mentioned, most FK8's are still selling above their MSRP used.

The FK8 is has unique styling and is the first US CTR, but the FL5 will most likely be the last ICE CTR and will probably have lower production numbers. My bet in the US is that, long term, the FK8 will command higher prices. In the long run, unique styled cars stick out. I've trade my 18 wrx sti for my type r. The Honda Civic Type R got a major makeover for 2023. The automaker toned down the overwrought exterior of the previous-generation FK8 Type R, giving the new FL5 version a more mature appearance. maybe there is an aero advantage on the fk8 at speed? a curious thing. Also, broken in engine doesnt make that much of a difference as shown in the video. Considering the thread with a fl5 dyno being higher than a fk8 stock dyno. Bet that car aint “broken in”. Lol
Under the hood, the FL5 Civic Type R runs on the same K20C1 2.0L VTEC Turbo engine as the previous FK8 but it’s been boosted to produce 330PS of power and 420Nm of torque while mated exclusively to a 6-speed MT. Aside from that, Honda has spent its manpower to give the FL5 Civic Type R a much-needed improvement in the dynamics department.

The Honda Civic Type R will now be built in Japan! One of the biggest revelations from Jason's walkaround video is that he noticed that the 2023 Honda Civic Type R was built in Japan. In the video, Jason pointed out its VIN on the windscreen, which clearly showed the alphabet J in front of the other alphabets and numbers. According to Jason so just for a weight comparison (yes I know this won’t be accurate but why not lol). The gvwr for a 2020 Canadian fk8 is 3,880lbs. So if the capacity of the cars measure the same (which I’m sure they won’t) it seems like the new FL5 will weigh Around 90lbs more than the outgoing FK8. chadwicke619 • 2021 CBP Honda Civic Type R • • Edited Additional comment actions I mean, I love my Type R very much and intend to keep it until it crumbles into dust, but the idea of financing a new Type R over MSRP with the express purpose of daily driving it to the tune of 15K miles a year as a service technician sounds utterly fucking fb9N9.
